Those who are hosted on Hostgator and using Timthumb.php in order to show thumbnail must have noticed that thumbnail is not appearing on their blog. The issue is with Hostgator has updated some of it’s mod_security module and due to this timthumb.php will stop working.
This will cause your images will be shown as broken on blog. The solution to this problem is :
- Go to Hostgator.com
- Click on Chat
- Select Technical support
- Verify yourself and ask CC to white list Tim thumb.php for your domain
This will solve the issue. This is a quick post for all those who have been facing issues with broken thumbnail on their WordPress blog hosted on Hostgator.

I am not sure it this error is present on all hosting accounts. As i have more than 5 websites on hostgator using timthumb.php for image resizing and script is working fine on all websites.
Neel this issue is not with all the Servers but certain servers…
I faced this issue with my blog which is hosted on Hostgator and whitelisting timthumb.php resolved the issue…
I use Timthumbs on Hostgator but everything works fine. I don’t have any problem with it.
I’m having problem with TimThumb script. I actually contacted HostGator technical support team, but they say there is no blockage on the script. I’m uploading images to http://media.techlikes.com/images. I just recently upgraded to WordPress. But the images loaded to my domain don’t show thumbnails. But the images on Picasa are showing thumbnails. I’m using the modified timthumb script on this link. Palla you need to contact the person who created this modified TimThumb script. Original Timthumb script doesn’t allow you to show thumbnail for images which are hotlinked from other domains.
Thanks Harsh for replying. I actually got it sorted out with Suhas ( developer of modified script) and finally it was resolved, that we can’t upload images to subdomain just like media.techlikes.com. And, also i had another problem, i put http://www.techlikes.com prefix in front of some images, which also didn’t work. So those 2 problems i rectified, and i’m uploading my images to wp-content/uploads, which give no problem. Do you think, i can still upload images to my subdomain ie. media.techlikes.com?
I am also facing the same issue. I have talked with hostgator several times,got it resolved, but after few days the same problem arises again. What to do ?
